Then Jesus went out again by the sea, and all the multitude came to Him, and He taught them. As Jesus passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him. Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Jesus eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2 vs 13-17.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Jesus should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Jesus might be saved. He that believes on Jesus is not condemned: but he that does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3 verses 14-21
And if any man hears My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father Who sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that His commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak. John 12 verses 47-50.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After I comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ I did not know Him, but that He should be revealed to Israel; therefore, I came baptizing with water.” And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” John 1 v 29-34.
All that the Father gives to Me shall come to Me, and they that comes to Me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of the Father Who sent Me. And this is the Father’s will Who has sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of the Father Who has sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and shall believes on Him may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6 verses 37-40.
And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried, saying, This was He of whom I spake, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for He was before me. And of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man has seen God at any time, but the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. John 1 vs 14-18.
In the morning, as Jesus returned into the city, He was hungry. And when He saw a fig tree on the way, He came to it, and found no fruit on it, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on you henceforward forever. And presently, the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If you have faith, and doubt not, you shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, Be removed, and be cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. Matthew 21 vs 18-22.
Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you; whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. When the scribes and Pharisees saw Jesus eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard it, he said, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick. I didn’t come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. Matthew 9 verses 11-13.
Jesus Christ openly proclaimed the manifold purposes of His coming into the world throughout His earthly ministry. In the discourse recorded in Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus declares to the Pharisees that one of the aspects of His ministry was to call sinners unto Repentance.
What does Repentance mean? Unfortunately, most of the time, people only refer to Repentance as having a change of thinking or a change of mind, but scripturally Repentance covers a whole range of aspects. The parable of the Prodigal son taught by Jesus is an example of Repentance regarding the Gospel of the Kingdom.
And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
Wherefore, if God can so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Where and how shall we be clothed?
For after all these things do the Gentiles seek, know that your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6 vs 30-34.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asks will receive, and he that seeks will find, and to him, that knocks it shall be opened unto him. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son would ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father Who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him? Matthew 7 vs 7-11.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or, if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? Read More. “What Jesus Said About Asking, Seeking And Knocking?”
