The Request Of The Mother Of James And John.

MATT 20 V 23

Then came to Jesus the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping Jesus, and desiring a certain thing of Him. And Jesus said unto her, What do you ask of Me? She answering said unto Him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your Kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, you do not know what you are asking for. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They said unto Jesus, We are able. And Jesus said unto them, You shall drink indeed of My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of My Father. Matthew 20 vs 20-23

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.” And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?”  Read More. “The Request Of The Mother Of James And John.”

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant.

MATT 18 V 23

Then came Peter to Jesus, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times? Jesus said unto him, I say not unto you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the Kingdom of Heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, who owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

The servant, therefore, fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that which you owe me. And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything. Read More. “The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant.”

The Parable of the Vineyard Workers.

MATT 20 V 1

For the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And he said unto them; Go you also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing idle, and he said unto them, Why do you stand here idle all day? They said unto him Because no man has hired us. He said unto them, Go you also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall you receive.

So when evening came, the lord of the vineyard said unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. And when they came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. Read More. “The Parable of the Vineyard Workers.”

The Parable Of The Net.

MATT 13 V 47-48

Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like, unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Jesus said unto them, Have you understood all these things? They said unto Jesus, Yes, Lord. Then  Jesus said unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed unto the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who would bring forth out of his treasure things new and old. Matthew 13 vs 47-52.

Hard For Rich To Enter.

MATT 19 V 24

And, behold, a young man came unto Jesus and said Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?  And Jesus said unto him, Why do you call Me good? there is none good but One, that is, God: but if you would enter into life, keep the commandments. He said unto Jesus, Which? Jesus said you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, Honour both your father and mother: and, you shall love your neighbour as yourself.

The young man said unto Jesus All these things I have kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If you would be perfect, go and sell that which you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God. Read More. “Hard For Rich To Enter.”

Let The Children Enter.

MATT 19 V 14.

Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto Me: for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. And Jesus laid His hands on them and departed from there. Matthew 19 vs 13-15

Then they brought little children to Jesus, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10 v 13-16.

And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Read More. “Let The Children Enter.”

The Greatest In The Kingdom.

MATT 18 V 3-4

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto Himself and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And whosoever shall receive one such little child in My name shall receive Me. But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones who shall believe in Me, it would be better for him that a millstone was hanged about his neck, and that he was drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18 vs 1-6.

Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. Jesus  sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” Read More. “The Greatest In The Kingdom.”

Is There A Cost In Following Jesus?

LUKE 14 V 33

When Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a commandment to depart unto the other side. And a certain scribe came, and said unto Him, Master, I will follow where ever you may go. And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. And another of His disciples said unto Jesus, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow Me; and let the dead bury their dead. Matthew 8 vs 18-22.

Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, “Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Then He said to another, “Follow Me.”But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.”But Read More. “Is There A Cost In Following Jesus?”

The Kingdom Must Be Proclaimed.

LUKE 4 V 43-44.

In the evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him. Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, Jesus went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But Jesus said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also because for this purpose I have come forth.” And Jesus was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons. Mark 1 vs 32-39.

And when it was day, Jesus departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought after Him, and came unto Jesus, and asked Him to remain with them so that he should not depart from them. And Jesus said unto them, I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore I am sent. Read More. “The Kingdom Must Be Proclaimed.”

The Kingdom And Discipleship.

MATT 10 V 7-8.

These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans do not enter. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till you leave. And when you come into a house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment than for that city. Read More. “The Kingdom And Discipleship.”
