Hard For Rich To Enter.
And, behold, a young man came unto Jesus and said Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why do you call Me good? there is none good but One, that is, God: but if you would enter into life, keep the commandments. He said unto Jesus, Which? Jesus said you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, Honour both your father and mother: and, you shall love your neighbour as yourself.
The young man said unto Jesus All these things I have kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If you would be perfect, go and sell that which you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God. When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Then answered Peter and said unto Jesus, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That you that have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of His glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone that has forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last, and the last shall be first. Matthew 19 vs 23-30.
Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ” And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.” Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Mark 10 v 14-22.
And a certain ruler asked Jesus, saying Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why do you call me good? No one is good, save one, that is, God. You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, He said unto him, you lack one thing sell all that you have, and distribute unto the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow Me.
And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all and followed You. And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. Luke 18 v 18-34.
