Words of Spirit and Life

The Three Healing Questions Of Jesus.

Do You Believe That I Am Able To Do This?”

When Jesus departed, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when Jesus had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”

They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then Jesus touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, “See that no one knows it.” But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country. Matthew 9:27-31.

What Do You Want Me To Do For You?

As Jesus left Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then many warned him to be quiet, but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Read More. “The Three Healing Questions Of Jesus.”

The Importance of Counting the Cost.

The Importance of Counting the Cost.

Now great multitudes went with Jesus. And He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? Luke 14:25-28.

A King Counts the Cost.

Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:29-33. Read More. “The Importance of Counting the Cost.”

Jesus Heals Woman Bound For 18 Years.

While Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath, behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was bowed together, and she could in no wise lift herself up. And when Jesus saw her, He called her unto Himself, and said unto her, Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.

And Jesus laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, but not on the sabbath day.

The Lord then answered him and said, you hypocrite, do not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom satan had bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when Jesus had said these things, all of His adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.  Read More. “Jesus Heals Woman Bound For 18 Years.”

Judge Not, That You Be Not Judged.

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you give out it shall be measured back to you again. And why do you behold the mote that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me pull the mote out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite first cast out the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to be able to cast out the mote out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7 : 1-5.

But love you your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.  Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged: condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. Let Your Light Shine.

Jesus Is Our Example.

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it there was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light that all men through Him might believe. He was not that Light but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lights every man that cometh into the world. John 1:4-9.

“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”Luke 2:29-32.

And this is the condemnation that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to light, lest his deeds should be reproved. John 3:19-20.

Then Jesus spoke again unto them, saying, “I am the light of the world: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Read More. “Let Your Light Shine.”

Jesus, The Only Way To The Father

For God So Loved The World.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved John 3:14-17

Jesus Came To Save The Lost.

For the Son of Man is come to save that which was lost.  How think you? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, does he not leave the ninety and nine, and goes into the mountains, and seeks that which is gone astray?  And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.  Even so, it is not the will of your Father, which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:11-14.

And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.  Read More. “Jesus, The Only Way To The Father”

The Parable of the Rich Fool

And one of the company said unto Jesus, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And Jesus said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? And Jesus said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

And Jesus spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, you fool, this night thy soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided? So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. Luke 12:13-21.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Jesus, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus said unto him, What is written in the law? How do you read it? And he answering said, you shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

And Jesus said unto him, you have answered right: this do, and you shall live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeing Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.

And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from there. Read More. “The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus”

The Parables Of The Fig Trees.

Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh: So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Read More. “The Parables Of The Fig Trees.”
